What sort of changes are we talking about?
Change Management is a broad term. One fact, I am absolutely certain of is that when working in an organisation delivering changes to systems and ways-of-working, everything comes down to how well everyone impacted receives the changes.
This relies on effective communication and the development of any new skills needed whether they be technical or soft skills such as relationship management.
Change Management is often confused with “Comms and Training”. It’s true that, ideally, Change Management leads to and includes the development of communication and training materials, but to think of it as only this is missing the point. Professional training design is also an art that benefits from specialised skills.
Without clarity over what is changing and how the changes will impact different groups of people, it’s very difficult to know what to communicate, to whom and how best to support everyone through it.
The more complex and large the changes are, the more work there is to clarify them and identify who’s impacted and how.
